Djapirri (Susan) Mununggirritj – Director
Ms Djapirri Mununggirritj is a Yolngu elder from north east Arnhem Land; widely respected with a deep understanding of culture, language and commitment to her people. She has consistently worked to improve relationships between Indigenous and non-indigenous people and is a Board member of Reconciliation Australia. Ms Mununggirritj was instrumental in establishing the Yirrkala Women’s Patrol to address domestic violence, alcohol abuse and other community safety issues. In 2011 she received the Northern Territory Australia’s Local Hero Award. She is an advocate for education, an accomplished artist. She was formerly the Indigenous Engagement Officer for the Australian Government. She is well known and respected for her work across the political arena.
